WA State Raw Milk Bill Needs Action!
State of Washington Citizens only

Senate Bill 6377 passed out of the Washington State Senate and has now gone over to the House of Representative where it is scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday, February 15th before the Economic Development, Agriculture & Trade Committee. In its present form, SB 6377 contains the more severe criminal penalty provisions and NO provision for a micro-dairy workgroup.

Please contact the members of the House Economic Development, Agriculture & Trade Committee and ask that they support amendments to SB 6377 that will reconcile it with House Bill 3010 by adding the micro-dairy work group provision and removing the harsher criminal penalty provision.

Please also contact Senator Mark Doumit, (D-Cathlamet) who sponsored SB 6377 and who does not want the amendments. Express that you too want to insure no one is ever sickened by contaminated milk again. That we need the raw milk work group to address concerns, 1) that the safety standards for raw milk meant for consumption needs to be greater than for raw milk meant for pasteurization, and 2) that the facility and equipment requirements be revised so as to take into account the size and
scale of the micro-dairy. Please also ask that he support reduction of the overly harsh criminal penalties.
