DISCOUNTED HOTEL ROOMS: The deadline for the special conference room rate of $142 per night has expired, but we have reserved four rooms at that rate and are holding them for any late-comers who wish to stay at the hotel. Call Misty at 240-379-7072 for details. If you are driving from any distance, do consider staying at the hotel. . . . you'll have a lot more fun! The special rate is for double, triple and even quadruple occupancy.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: The deadline for the membership drive is November 8. If you sign up fifteen new members, you receive a full conference registration. If you sign up five new members, you will be rewarded with a copy of the Deluxe Edition of Nourishing Traditions. Our membership form is posted at www.westonaprice.org/membershipform.pdf. Be sure to fill
your name in at the bottom so you get credit for the memberships.

NEW COOKING OIL FOR KFC: On Monday, October 30, Kentucky Fried Chicken announced that it would replace partially hydrogenated soybean oil "with a type of soybean oil that does not contain trans fat" at its 5,500 restaurants. Of course, this highly processed, polyunsaturated oil, full of free radicals and toxic break-down products, will be as bad as or even worse than partially hydrogenated soybean oil loaded with trans
fats. We have it on good authority that KFC has received over 2700 calls on this issue since Monday, most of them negative about the new oil. There does not seem to be a way to email KFC about this subject from their website, www.kfc.com, but you can call them at 866-664-5696 to voice your objection to the new cooking oil. Urge them to use stable, healthy, traditional saturated fats like tallow, lard and palm oil.

MILK SHARE OPPORTUNITY: a grass-based mid-west dairy operation is seeking a farmer or farm-family to run the farm on a "milk-share" basis. He or she would have complete operational control over the dairy portion of the farm, with payment of a percentage of the milk check. The farm is 320 acres with 70-90 milking cows, all grass-fed. There is little machinery involved and the milking is seasonal. This offer includes a remodeled home with paid electricity and corn heating system. There are
additional organic and other high-value milk market opportunities for year-round income potential.
