Farm Food

  1. EcoFriendly Foods/Polyface Farm—Free range eggs, chickens, meat, soupbones, pet food, rabbit. Beginning May 12, they attend summer farmers' markets on Saturdays at Arlington (14th and Courthouse Rd).   2. Zook's Organics—To participate in the Falls Church Food Sharing and Drop program please call chapter leader for information. We get grass fed organic products such as veal, beef, chickens and eggs, dairy, cheeses and seasonal produce from Christiana, PA. Delivery to select places in the Washington and Virginia areas.
  3. Mountain Home Jersey Cow Share—Mountain Home Farm is a Class A dairy that has been providing quality milk from Holsteins and Jerseys for 40+ years. They are now setting up a separate cow share business to provide raw milk from their pasture-fed Jerseys. Middleburg, VA. Contact Barbara Elgin at (540) 687-4056, , for more information. Pasture-fed pork, beef, and eggs may be available as well, depending on market need.

  5. Cibola Farms-Producer of quality game and traditional meats….Buffalo, Pork, Rabbit, Chicken. Food can also be picked up at the farm trading post some on specifically scheduled days in Culpepper VA.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSAs)

  1. Bull Run Mountain Organic Farm—A private farm in The Plains, Va., owned by the Bates/Hauter family, with a six-year-old Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Shares for 2002 season are $600 at the farm or $645 at delivery sites in East Falls Church and Alexandria. Call 703-754-4005 (or Web site www.bullrun farm.com).
  2. Great Country Farms—The Zurschmeide family owns a 186-acre farm near the village of Bluemont, Va. Shares for 2002 (22 weeks) are $654, with home delivery to Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria and Loudoun County. Call (540) 554-2073.
  3. Potomac Vegetable Farms—Owners of these family-owned Virginia farms have operated a vegetable stand on Leesburg Pike for 41 years and a CSA program for three years. Shares for 2002 are $360 with pick up at the farm or sites in Arlington and Falls Church. Also flowers and herb shares. Call

  4. Waterpenny Farm — Private vegetable farm in Sperryville, Va. Shares for 2002 are $390 at the farm or $442 at a delivery site in Arlington. Call (540) 987-8567.
