In 2007 we created a petition to rally support from all people worldwide who care about preserving their diminishing health freedom rights. We did this in response to a Federal mandate that declared as of August 2007 that all RAW almonds grown in the US were to be pasteurized.
Many American almond farming businesses went bankrupt as a result of this ridiculous federal mandate. But thanks to all of the help from the Cornucopia institute and the over 25,000 people who signed the “Mandatory Almond Pasteurization is WRONG” we may soon be able to buy Raw California almonds again!
August 3, 2010 LATEST UPDATE Almond Farmers Win Appeals Court Victory. Click here to see. We believe we have compelling legal arguments and a strong lawsuit. It is our opinion that the USDA exceeded its regulatory authority in imposing the raw almond treatment. Even if the agency has the authority, its badly bungled its enactment. The legal team assembled by Cornucopia is working hard to successfully make the case.
But to be successful, the legal effort will need help from all who want to preserve the right to truly raw, authentic almonds grown in the United States.
So here is what we are asking you to do:
-If you have not already, please sign the petition and send it out to your email list.
Forward this link to as many people as possible and post it on all the social networking and blog sites.

The Cornucopia Institute will be bringing this petition to court to show that people care about their food freedom choices, it will also be presented to the California Almond Board, the FDA and the USDA.
Remember, soon Raw California almonds may be legal purchased again and it is because of the support of people like you who truly care about maintaining their health freedom rights. So please continue to take action!
Thank You

just found this posting. So, what ended up happening? Are California almonds still mandatory to be pasteurized? I heard that almost all nuts and seeds were heat treated, besides just almonds, in the United States. If this is true, and the enzymes are destroyed in the nuts and seeds, then what is the advantage to soaking nuts and seeds to activate the enzymes (to neutralize the enzyme inhibitors)? Should we still soak and dehydrate nuts and seeds for the purpose of reducing as much as possible the phytic acid (actually does soaking and dehydrating reduce the phytic acid content)?
Thank you!

Hi I hope you’ve found some answers to your questions by now. I’m just another normal person looking for truly raw and nutritionally intact whole foods as well but if you are still looking for info maybe we can help each other.
You can try mailinglist2 + rawnutpetition @ protonmail.com
Of course you’ll have to eliminate spaces to make it work.
Blessings in the Creator God and Lord Jesus, through His grace and Spirit to you, and please be assured I won’t talk about more of the same once someone tells me no thank you.
