The Wise Traditions podcast is for those who seek optimal health, based on ancient wisdom. We believe that vibrant health cannot be cultivated in a lab, engineered through modern technology or found through “improving” nature. On the contrary, “life in all its fullness is mother nature obeyed,” as Dr. Price put it. We thrive when we live as our ancestors did, and we can look to the past for clues on how to go about it.
This show is sponsored by the Weston A. Price Foundation and is an invitation to follow ancient health ways and to embrace alternative healing modalities to live our best lives. Our host, Hilda Labrada Gore, known as Holistic Hilda, interviews experts on a wide variety of topics—ranging from nutrient-dense foods to improving mental health to homesteading to detoxing to healing emotional trauma to the power of sunshine and mitigating EMFs. Every episode offers the listener a new (yet, ancient) way to heal, grow, and live a vibrant, happy life.

She calls it capitalism? Thanks for the heads up! I’m heading over to episode #81 right now! Despite nuances between different countries, and historical trajectories, “capitalism” is still the best term we have to describe the global economic system. Anyway, whatever it is, I think we can agree it’s not working for our health 🙁

You mention an advertiser in your show sometimes – kraut pounder, but I cannot find out where to order this item, which I also saw at the conference. Please advise.

Thank you for your tireless and faithful work in bringing such cogent / useful health information to us, and all with such beautiful transparency and refreshing relevance! One of the guests mentioned the fallacy of the blood-brain barrier, stating (as I recall) that it was a term conceived by the pharmaceutical world to obfuscate the physiological issues and concerns surrounding the negative influences of their products on the brain. Can anyone help me with either the date of that podcast or any helpful recourse(s) relating to this important issue?

I love Hilda’s cheery voice and upbeat attitude, managing always to find a bright side even with some pretty heavy topics. And I ADORE the song “Sunny Side Up”! It’s the best podcast theme song anywhere!

The episode with Kyle Kingsbury is probably the worst I’ve heard from the WTP. I listened to the whole episode because I knew a few minutes into it that I had to write about it.
Kyle’s version of “sacred hunting” is ridiculous! The hunt he discussed in Texas was a pay-to-play high-fence “hunt”. There’s no “fair chase” involved! He even discussed doing “laps” around the 2000-acre paddock to finally shoot the WRONG animal with a .300 Winchester Magnum rifle. That’s MORONIC!
A high-fence operation is where animals are essentially captively bred and raised. The pay-to-play aspect is very simply rich guys paying exorbitant fees to CULL unwanted animals. It is NOT hunting.
Kyle discussed shooting a bison, even alluding to it “giving itself” to the “hunters” even though it was somewhat tame! Wow. That’s NOT hunting.
Kyle mentioned using the .300 WinMag to destroy the shoulder meat of an elk. Yep, that’s what .300 WinMags are good for. Most people who hunt with them take shots at such great distances that they wound game, or worse — lose wounded game, or at the least — destroy choice meat, all because the shot was taken at ridiculously long distance, like 900 yards! That’s stupid. Extreme long range shooting at game is NOT hunting.
Kyle expanded on the spiritual mumbojumbo that animals “present” themselves to the hunter in some ritualist nonsense that they’re weak, or trying to feed the hunter, preserve the species…whatever. That’s garbage. If you don’t look both ways before crossing the street, and you get hit by a car, try applying that “illogic” to your situation and that of the vehicle driver. Not one single animal on this planet willing or spiritually steps into a position if sacrifice.
Kyle discussed coyotes going into estrous at any time if the female feels the species is threatened. That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. That simply is not true.
And finally, if Kyle cries every time he dispatches an animal, then he’s actually a vegan forcing himself to eat meat. Ridiculous.
Kyle calling Paul Saladino the “carnivore doctor” was entertaining. Paul Saladino is currently preaching that we should be consuming a lot of carbs and fiber. He has completely lost his way as the “carnivore doctor”. He’s more of a fish, though, the way he flip-flops around!
And finally… One sponsor on Kyle’s website, Cured, has a symbol before the word “Cured” that looks remarkably like the man-boy-love symbol for pedophiles!
I expect more from WISE Traditions, in the sense that I expect guests on the podcast to be more wisely chosen!

I love the Wise Traditions podcast and appreciate all the great information I’ve heard. I also own and have read the Nourishing Traditions books. There is a good bit about holistic medicine, avoiding doctors and hospitals, and looking for alternatives to allopathic medicine. However what do we do when we have a physical defect that seems to have no other recourse than to go through traditional doctors and hospitals? My child had a congenital heart defect and needed open heart surgery recently. We have to go through the hospital system, and I just prayed and held on tight that we didn’t have to deal with anything untoward. We made it all right to the other side but are still under the care of a cardiologist. I’m wondering what would be the take of some of the doctors on your show, like Dr Tom Cowan, on how to proceed with things like this? Thank you!
