REGIONAL CONFERENCE:
Besides the November Conference in California, we have decided to travel to other parts of the country offering a two-day, smaller, less expensive conference at other times of the year. Sally Fallon Morell cannot accept all her speaking invitations yet this allows her and our other good speakers to reach people in various parts of the country.
Our first one, in St Louis, Missouri, is scheduled for May 19 & 20, 2012. People can attend both days or only one. This is a great way to introduce people to this message and to hear it again.
Please help us spread the word. You can forward or print this or we’ll send you copies:
ST LOUIS, MISSOURI
Our next Regional will be in Buffalo, New York, September 15-16. followed by our International Wise Traditions Conference in Santa Clara, California November 9-12.

MEMBERSHIP
Sally and her husband Geoffrey Morell recently completed a speaking tour in New Zealand, March 25 through April 4, addressing capacity audiences at seven locations. Before the tour, there were 122 members in the country. During the tour, the chapter leaders signed up 150 new members – more than doubling the membership!! Chapter Leader Deborah Murtagh of Cambridge, New Zealand recruited 53 of those new members. Congratulations and much thanks to all those involved!
Membership fees allow us to continue our many projects. As renewals and new memberships come in, the money is used to fund the various efforts we are undertaking. In 2011, we decided to give more attention to increasing our membership. We had received some comments from people familiar with our website stating that they didn’t even know we were a membership organization, so we have made changes to reflect that fact. We are focusing on inviting people to become members and apprising them of the benefits of membership. The more members we have, the more we can do in the areas of Education, Research and Activism.
Our website is highly rated, we have a strong presence on Facebook – people know about us. Now we want to be sure they know they can join to help themselves and our work.
With the help of the New Zealand chapter leaders and leaders and members everywhere, the membership is growing significantly! We are up to 14,500 members.
One thing we have produced is a membership poster; we would be happy to send you a free copy. Email info@westonaprice.org to request one. We suggest displaying it next to our brochures in an office, store, meeting, etc.

“Soy and the Odwalla Chocolate Protein Monster”
http://www.westonaprice.org/blogs/kdaniel/
Odwalla’s Chocolate Protein Monster drink caused severe reactions in four people who were allergic to peanuts, and food safety experts don’t know why. Because the drinks were not contaminated with peanuts, the likeliest cause was cross reactivity to soy. Although the Swedish National Food Administration warned about this possibility more than a decade ago, yet few people in the U.S. are aware of the soy-peanut connection. Many people have been harmed, and some have died.

Glutathione 101, Part 1: Cysteine Misbehaves, But Glutathione Saves
In the past Chris has written several posts about the ability of raw milk to boost glutathione status. In his new Glutathione 101 series, he will explain the important roles glutathione plays in the body in more detail and explain how other components of nutrient-dense, traditional diets such as liver and bone broth can also boost glutathione status. In the first post in this series, he explains how glutathione protects against the potential toxicity of the amino acid cysteine by providing a safe means of storing it and transporting it throughout the body.

FARMAGEDDON – A Note from the Director/:Producer, Kristin Canty
Farmageddon…The Unseen War on American Family Farms is now available in US and Canada. It is currently streaming on ITUNES, Amazon for Kindle, and VUDU, and available on hard copy DVD at Amazon and from the Farm to Consumer Legal Defense Fund and various farm stores.
If you have seen the movie and would like to write a positive review on Amazon and ITunes, this would be very helpful to give the movie, and thus the topic, more visibility. Please spread the word about the film. Follow Farmageddon The Movie on Facebook and share with your friends and participate in the conversation. To support this cause, encourage FTCLDF donations and memberships, and schedule a meeting with your local and federal representatives to discuss these issues and let them know that this is important to you and your family.
Public screenings of the movie are still available through the website, http://farmageddonmovie.com/
INFO ALERT CLARIFICATION
We recently sent an email about a Nutritional Therapist Training Program offered by NTA. Based on a few responses we received, some people had the false impression that this was our program. It is not. Occasionally we send Info Alerts advertising another group’s talk or course, for example, a talk by Joel Salatin. These are not our events but relate to our mission.
Also, if you forward our emails to others, please delete the ‘opt out’ message at the bottom. If you forward it and the recipient opts out, it will actually opt you out of our email list.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED by Sally Fallon Morell
Q. I was wondering if you had and can send me some info on high triglycerides? I have all the information about high cholesterol from your work and Mary Enig’s BUT no info on high triglycerides.
A. Uffe Ravnskov is of the opinion that there is no relationship between triglyceride levels and proneness to heart disease. Tryglyceride levels vary wildly throughout the day–they are highest just after a meal, so it is difficult to know even when to measure them. My understanding is that eating lots of carbohydrates tends to raise trygliceride levels.
Q. I don’t recall seeing any recipes for milk-based soups in Nourishing Traditions (such as a seafood chowder). Is there a reason for this that has to do with cooking the milk? Or was it just a simple omission?
A. I think it would be better to add cream to soups rather than milk–the fats are much less damaged by heating than the proteins in milk.
Q. I have been reading in Nourishing Traditions about fructose being a problem; does this mean no fruit?
A. We have some clarification of this issue recently. The fructose in high fructose corn syrup and agave nectar are not like the fructose isomers in nature; these would be the sweeteners to avoid at all costs. See http://www.westonaprice.org/modern-foods/agave-nectar-worse-than-we-thought. But fruit in moderation is fine. Just be aware that all fructose, even that in fruit, has to be processed in the liver, so too much fruit might put a strain on the liver.
