PA HB 1202
Smart meters and (some) digital meters are quickly replacing electromechanical analog meters which have been safely used for decades. Smart meters are creating an increased risk to human health, as they emit toxic levels of pulsed radiofrequency (RF) radiation. These meters are not only a fire hazard but the utility companies that install them are also selling near real-time usage data to third parties, threatening privacy.
Luckily, Pennsylvania House Bill 1202 protects residents by allowing utility meter choice. Reach out to your elected official and urge them to vote yes to uphold the freedom to choose which meters residents can have on their homes.
Please help us support this important bill today!

To find your PA representative, please visit: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/home/findyourlegislator/
Calls and emails are both effective, however if you are unable to leave a voicemail you also have the option to send an email to your Representative (found on their website) with the below sample script. We recommend stating the facts and adding a personal constituent message to engage your legislator.
SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“My name is {YOUR NAME} and I live in {TOWN}. I am calling to ask representative { LAST NAME} to support House Bill 1202, which would establish certain rights for the protection of consumer health, safety and/or privacy needs related to digital and SMART utility meters.
Smart meters and (some) digital meters are quickly being deployed and mandated across Pennsylvania without adequately informing residents of health, safety and privacy risks. In many cases, these meters are being deployed without any notification to residents or the ability to opt out.
Unlike analog meters which have been safely used for decades, smart meters are a risk to human health, as they emit toxic levels of pulsed radiofrequency (RF) radiation. These meters are not only a fire hazard but the utility companies that install them are also selling near real-time usage data to third parties, threatening privacy.
Please protect our health, safety, and freedom of choice by supporting HB 1202 which will allow consumers to opt out of smart and digital meters.
Thank you for your attention on this critical matter!
Sincerely,
