Protect and Expand Medical Freedom in Idaho!

Idaho lawmakers are considering legislation to strengthen and expand existing medical freedom protections across the state. We need you to please take action IMMEDIATELY!

HB 808, Idaho’s Medical Freedom Expansion Bill, would protect the right of medical industry workers to make their own medical choices; remove the school and daycare vaccine mandate statute in Idaho code as schools and daycares continue to violate the Idaho Medical Freedom Act and Idaho law by bullying and coercing parents to vaccinate their children in order to attend; and change the state immunization registry from automatic enrollment to an opt-in system.

This bill ensures that medical choice is respected everywhere in Idaho – in hospitals and medical facilities and in schools and daycares ensuring that families are not pressured, misled, penalized, or restricted from school or daycare for their vaccine choices.

HB 808 will be heard on Thursday, March 12th at 9 am MT in the House Health and Welfare Committee.

1. Contact the House Health and Welfare Committee TODAY and ask them to SUPPORT HB 808.

Be sure to explain why medical workers should have the same rights as others, that schools and daycares aren’t abiding by the law, so the school mandate code must be removed, and that the vaccine registry should be opt-in, not opt-out.

“Hello, my name is ___ and I’m a constituent from ___. I’m calling to respectfully urge Representative ___ to SUPPORT HB 808.

As a parent and citizen, medical decisions for my family are deeply personal. Those choices should belong to individuals and parents—not schools, daycares, employers, or government agencies.

HB 808 strengthens Idaho’s Medical Freedom Act by protecting the right of families and healthcare workers to make their own medical decisions without pressure or coercion. It also helps ensure that schools and daycares cannot intimidate parents about vaccination in order for their children to attend.

I also strongly support the bill’s provision to make the state immunization registry opt-in so families have control over their private medical information.

Please support HB 808 to protect medical freedom, parental rights, and informed consent in Idaho.

TALKING POINTS

1. Idaho already recognizes the importance of medical choice through the Idaho Medical Freedom Act, which limits the ability of government entities, businesses, and schools to require medical interventions. HB 808 strengthens and clarifies those protections so that schools and daycare centers fully comply. 

2. Parents—not institutions—should make medical decisions for their children. HB 808 ensures that families are not pressured, misled, or threatened with exclusion from education or childcare because of a medical decision.

3. Some provisions in existing school and daycare code conflict with Idaho’s Medical Freedom Act. HB 808 removes those inconsistencies so that state law clearly protects parental authority and medical choice.

4. Medical ethics require voluntary and informed consent. When families are pressured or misled about their legal rights, informed consent is undermined. HB 808 reinforces the principle that medical decisions must remain voluntary.

5. HB 808 changes Idaho’s immunization registry from automatic enrollment to a voluntary opt-in system, ensuring that families maintain control over whether their private medical information is collected and stored.

6. No Idahoan should be denied access to education, childcare, employment, or services because they declined a medical intervention. HB 808 strengthens protections against discrimination based on personal health choices.

7. Medical freedom protections must apply broadly—including to employees, healthcare workers, parents, and children. HB 808 clarifies that these rights apply across multiple settings.

8. Many Idaho families have reported pressure, misrepresentation of the law, or threats of exclusion related to vaccine status. HB 808 addresses these concerns by strengthening accountability and clarifying protections.

9. Trust in healthcare grows when individuals know their choices will be respected. Protecting voluntary medical decision-making fosters transparency, trust, and honest communication between families and healthcare providers.

10. Respect for bodily autonomy and parental authority are foundational principles of a free society. Supporting HB 808 ensures that Idaho continues to defend those rights.
