West Virginia has taken a groundbreaking step toward protecting parental rights and individual freedoms! On his first full day in office, Governor Patrick Morrisey signed an executive order granting religious exemptions to mandatory school vaccinations.
This change ends West Virginia’s long-standing position as one of the most restrictive states in the country regarding vaccine mandates.
Now, parents in West Virginia can submit a written statement explaining their religious objections to certain vaccines, ensuring their children can attend school without compromising their deeply held beliefs.
Currently, California, Maine, New York, and Connecticut are the only states that still deny families the option of religious vaccine exemptions.
Let’s celebrate this monumental win in West Virginia and use it as motivation to fight for health freedom across the nation. Ideally, all states would end all vaccine mandates rather than just allowing exemptions!

TAKE ACTION
- If You Live in California, Maine, New York, or Connecticut:
Contact your legislators today! Ask them to follow West Virginia’s example by implementing religious (and ideally conscientious) exemptions for school vaccination requirements.
- If You Live in a State That Honors Exemptions:
Reach out to your representatives and encourage them to safeguard your state’s current laws protecting religious and conscientious exemptions. These freedoms must be preserved. Better yet, ask them to support ending vaccine mandates altogether!
You can look up your state vaccine laws & exemptions here: https://www.nvic.org/law-policy-state
You can find who represents you at: https://www.congress.gov/contact-us
Special Note: If you are requesting a religious exemption, focus on claiming a right to your sincerely held religious beliefs rather than discussing vaccine safety concerns.
If you request a conscientious exemption, you may reference evidence of a lack of vaccine safety as part of your reasoning. Read this article for more information: https://www.westonaprice.org/health-topics/vaccines-unsafe-since-the-very-beginning/#gsc.tab=0
Calls are more effective than emails and only take a few minutes. Below is a sample script along with additional Talking Points. Use your own words when you call or email – a personal message is always more effective than a form message!
SAMPLE SCRIPT:
“Hi, my name is ____, and I am a constituent. I am calling to ask Senator (or Representative) ____ to introduce or support legislation that grants religious vaccine exemptions for school vaccinations.
West Virginia’s new policy shows that it is both achievable and necessary to respect individual rights and parental choice.
Religious exemptions uphold parents’ fundamental right to make decisions about their children’s health and education based on their sincerely held religious beliefs.
Please take action to ensure religious freedom for families in [Your State].”
You may wish to use a couple of the talking points below. Don’t copy all of them – just use them as ideas to help structure your own message.
TALKING POINTS:
- Share why this is personal to you, whether it is because you have a religious belief that conflicts with vaccination or you support religious freedom generally, or whatever your reasons are.
- Many vaccines are made using aborted fetal tissue. This article shows one of the world’s leading authorities on vaccination describing the use of 3-month-old aborted fetuses in vaccine research. https://www.investmentwatchblog.com/worlds-leading-authority-on-vaccines-details-the-use-of-aborted-babies-in-vaccines-while-under-oath/

- One of the most basic human rights is bodily autonomy – as supported by the Nuremberg Code. Ethical medicine requires prior, entirely voluntary and fully informed consent.
- Vaccine makers and the healthcare providers who administer them bear zero liability for vaccine injuries and deaths from any mandated vaccine.
- Vaccine package inserts warn of the risk of brain damage, life-threatening allergy, and death and no one knows in advance whom a vaccine will harm. Each of us may respond differently as we have different medical histories, genes, epigenetics, and microbiomes.
- During the same time that the child vaccine schedule tripled – from 23 doses in 1980 to more than 70 doses in 2025 – we’ve seen an explosion of brain and immune system damage in children.
- Today, 54 percent of America’s children suffer from one or more chronic illnesses: one in six is learning disabled; one in ten is diagnosed with a mental disorder; one in nine has asthma; one in thirteen is severely allergic to food; one in twenty is epileptic; and one in four hundred has diabetes. And there are studies linking all these conditions to vaccination.
- Vaccines are medical procedures that carry a risk of serious injury. Hundreds of thousands have reported an adverse reaction to vaccination to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). The U.S. Government has paid out $5.1 billion to the victims of vaccine injury, per VICP Data Reports. https://www.hrsa.gov/vaccine-compensation/data
- 2006 Federal legislation removed all civil liability from pharmaceutical companies for injuries and deaths caused by vaccines or any other drugs manufactured in response to declared public health emergencies, including the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.
- Many of the new vaccines being created use DNA or mRNA technology which use a faster and less expensive technology. Neither DNA nor mRNA vaccines have been tested in large-scale clinical trials for lengthy periods of time. These new technology platforms have been used to develop experimental vaccines for SARS, MERS, and HIV, but so far, none have been sufficiently proven effective and safe for humans.
