Dear Weston A. Price Members,
At the Wise Traditions Conference last month in Dallas, Texas welcomed a new sponsor. The Raw Milk Institute, RAWMI for short, is a voice of responsible leadership and advocacy for raw milk. Their mission is to expand raw milk access with a four-pronged approach by working with farmers, consumers and regulators, and by providing legislative oversight.
RAWMI is making great strides in the regulatory and law-making communities. For example, Stacy Pearson, RAWMI’s Vice President, has been meeting with the California Department of Food and Agriculture to define a legal herd-share that will be exempt from regulation!
As a result, she has been asked to work with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture on their raw milk legislation. She has been working feverishly with WAPF chapter leaders in New Jersey in preparations for their raw milk hearing next week. She has connected with the Maine Congresswoman offering the Local Food, Farms & Jobs Act.
In Minnesota, legislators are lined up to carry the new RAWMI raw milk access bill and RAWMI is meeting with their activists to coordinate a Raw Milk Day at the Capitol.
Consumers, farmers, chefs, film makers and authors have all been contacting RAWMI for help to expand raw milk access at all levels. A new documentary is even in the works!
I am asking all of our members to reach out to the Raw Milk Institute and work with them on your raw milk initiatives. You are encouraged to submit your raw milk testimonies for posting on their website www.RawMilkInstitute.org. Submissions will be keyword searchable to help others who are looking for answers.
In the same philanthropic spirit that founded RAWMI, you will find it is free to JOIN, however, RAWMI has an immediate financial need: RAWMI’s daily operations and start-up costs have been covered by its founder, Mark McAfee. When Mark returned home from the Weston A. Price conference this year, he was met with a recall and has been shut down for nearly a month now. This puts RAWMI in financial crisis. We can help shoulder the financial responsibility that Mark has carried for us to this point.
RAWMI has launched a Financial Independence Initiative aimed at operating without further financial assistance and with the ability to address their start-up loans. If every person receiving this email from me today only gives $4.00, RAWMI will meet its goals and be able to survive this storm. RAWMI needs your financial partnership so they can continue to be a resource for all of us, farmers and consumers alike. We need the Raw Milk Institute to help us champion raw milk access. Please visit www.RawMilkInstitute.org and do what you can to help!
Thank you!
