Our allies at the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA) are sending farmers to the Capitol next week to meet with members of Congress, and are asking for your support to maximize their impact! Can you take a few minutes this week to draw more attention to important issues facing farmers and consumers of nutrient-dense foods?
Please read and take action on the alert from FARFA:
From June 16–20, call your U.S. Representative and Senators and let them know where you stand on critical legislation that impacts our farms, our food, and our future. This is your chance to speak up—and help set the tone ahead of FARFA’s Washington, D.C. Fly-In next week!
Below you will find a list of FARFA’s top priorities for this fly-in. Pick the bill(s) that you feel most strongly about, and that you can feel comfortable and confident advocating for over the phone.
Top Priorities:
✅ LOCAL Foods Act, S.1212 (Livestock Owned by Communities to Advance LOCAL Foods Act) – Expand options for on-farm processing, securing people’s rights to buy animal shares and hire someone to process for their personal use without regulatory restrictions.
✅ PRIME Act (Processing Revival and Intrastate Meat Exemption Act) – Allow farmers to sell meat by the cut to consumers within the state when they use a custom-exempt processor.
Other Bills & Priorities:
✅ Opportunities for Fairness in Farming (OFF) Act, H.R. 3516, – Bring transparency and accountability to checkoff programs.
✅ Strengthening Local Processing Act, H.R. 3076 – Improve infrastructure and training for small processors.
✅ Relief for Farmers Hit by PFAS Act – Protect farmers facing chemical contamination through no fault of their own.
✅ Preserve Conservation Program Funding – Ensure robust funding for EQIP, CSP, and other vital conservation programs.
Note: if we didn’t include a bill number, it’s because the bill has not been re-introduced yet this session, but we expect it to be.
What to Say When You Call:
- Tell them you’re a constituent
- Share your role—farmer, rancher, small business owner, or concerned citizen.
- Name the specific bills from the list above that matter to you, and why.
- Tell them to be on the lookout for FARFA farmers visiting Capitol Hill from June 24–26 and to take the time to listen.
Every call counts!
