FARFA Farm Bill Action Hour

The Farm Bill is moving forward in the Senate. We encourage you to join our allies at the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance (FARFA) for a virtual Action Hour on Wednesday, June 24th to make sure Senate Agriculture Committee members hear directly from farmers, ranchers, and consumers before they file the bill.

The Senate Ag Committee is expected to release the text of its version of the Farm Bill in the coming weeks. While we don’t know what’s in it yet, we do know that it will be missing some important provisions, like on-farm meat processing and mandatory Country of Origin Labeling. And we also know that we will have to fight to keep out the Big Ag provisions that protect corporations at the expense of family farmers and consumers.

This is the time for independent farmers and local food advocates to speak up, loud and clear, about what we want to see in the Farm Bill!

That’s why FARFA is hosting their second Virtual Action Hour next week, June 24th (at 2pm ET/1pm CT/12pm MT/11am PT) for both farmers and consumers to connect with Senate Agriculture Committee members offices before they hold a hearing on this new text.

Join this special Action Hour to help us demand:

• NO pesticide liability shield
• NO “Save Our Bacon” federal overreach
• NO mandatory Animal eID expansion

And:

• YES to mCOOL
• YES to LOCAL Foods Act
• YES to PRIME Act
• YES to Strengthening Local Processing

During this virtual action hour, FARFA staff will give a short policy overview before we take action together by calling Senate offices, posting on social media, and emailing staff directly.

Whether this is your first advocacy event or your fiftieth, FARFA will make it easy to participate.

At this time, we are focused on recruiting agtivists from states who have Senators on the Agriculture Committee. Those states are: Arkansas, Minnesota, Kentucky, Colorado, North Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, Kansas, New Mexico, Georgia, Alabama, West Virginia, Vermont, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, California, Nebraska, Michigan

If you live in a state with Senators not on this committee, we will reach out to you with advocacy opportunities after the committee hearing.

The Farm Bill will shape the future of independent agriculture and local food systems for years to come. This is our chance to make our voices heard before decisions are finalized.
