If you are looking to cut back on your sugar cravings, but still want to enjoy something sweet, this is a great recipe to make. It is very high in fat and low in sugar. This “fudge” tastes great and is a good way of getting extra fat into your diet while satisfying your sweet tooth.
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut manna/butter
- pinch unrefined sea salt
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp orange extract
- juice of 1 organic orange
- zest from an organic orange (1/2 tsp approximately)
- 1 Tbsp raw honey
Instructions
- Melt coconut manna/butter and oil in a small pot on a low heat.
- Stir until it softens.
- Add the rest of the ingredients into the pot and stir.
- Pour mixture into a small rectangular glass container.
- Place container in fridge.
- Once the fudge hardens, take a butter knife and cut into squares. Enjoy!
Thank you Sarah!
I welcome recipes that are “very high in fat and low in sugar” and most especially as “desserts.”
What you have presented here has sparked my interest in the following. I am curious as to generally who the readers of this article may be who are “looking to cut back on (their) sugar cravings.” Most especially if these are “WAPF” people then I am all the more curious to know an “Integrative Nutrition Health Coach” perspective as to how an individual who is eating a “WAPF” diet may have “sugar cravings”.
I’m also interested in knowing where one can be trained as a “Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.” Does the training include the impact of diet toward the development of “sugar cravings”? ……… Does the “Integrative” aspect include the element of the reward centers in the brain? ………
Looking forward to learning more from you!
Hi Chef-doctor! I have been eating the wise traditions diet for several years now, but I have struggled with sugar cravings myself in the past, even on this diet. Although it is significantly less than before I changed my diet. There are many other people in the WAP community who have too. I am not sure the exact reason, but everyone’s makeup is a little different. It could be related to hormones, adrenals being taxed or other reasons. I have heard others have had success getting rid of their cravings following the advice of Julia Ross who wrote The Craving Cure.
As far as my health coach certification, I received it from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). The training does touch on sugar and other cravings.
