WAPF Membership Drive!
September 8, 2005
LAUNCHING FOUNDATION MEMBERSHIP DRIVE….
The Weston A. Price Foundation proudly announces its 2005 Membership Drive. Our goal is to expand our membership by at least 1,000 individuals within the next two months! Please support us by enrolling at least one new member by the time of the Wise Traditions 2005 conference in November.
BRING IN AT LEAST ONE NEW MEMBER!
Please consider extending the well-being and joy you can bring to your family, friends, neighbors, work associates. . . even just plain strangers. You can do this by sharing your experience with another, whether it is the experience of healing or a new taste in foods. We have so many wonderful testimonials from our members about their restored health through food and nutrition. Just create your own “testimonial” and share it with others. It is actually very easy to do. People are hungry for what we are doing. Just share yourself! That’s all it takes. And, invite them to become a member of the Foundation!
BRING IN 5 NEW MEMBERS AND RECEIVE A GIFT!
As an added bonus, the Foundation will give each person who enrolls 5 new members before the Conference a special gift! Sally Fallon has just created a new special new hard bound edition of Nourishing Traditions that will be available at the Wise Traditions 2005 conference. Our gift for 5 new memberships will be a copy of this wonderful classic in the new edition form
The Deluxe Edition of Nourishing Traditions features the same
best-selling text in sturdy hardback. The larger format with wider margins lies flat, and look-up tabs at the page edges make it easy to find recipes. Included is an interactive CD-ROM of the whole book. Retail value is $48.
BRING IN 15 NEW MEMBERS AND ATTEND THE CONFERENCE FOR FREE!
If you bring in 15 new members before the Conference, the Foundation will gladly pay for your Wise Traditions 2005 Conference registration fee.
SPECIAL RECOGNITION
All of you who receive these special gifts will be honored at the Wise Traditions dinner banquet Saturday night, November 12.
LOGISTICS
NOTE: We are making this announcement ONLY through our “Action Alert” e-mails – there will be no postal mailing. Please share our “Membership Drive” information with as many current members as possible (some members do not receive e-mails).
As you discuss becoming a member with friends and colleagues, have on hand either our informational brochure or our membership form. This form is posted on our website at
membership form for you to print out.
So that we can credit you for the memberships you have inspired, please write your name at the bottom of the membership form in the Foundation’s brochure or in the “Membership Introduced by” space at the bottom of the membership form from our website.
You can either collect and mail the completed membership form(s) or simply ask the person who is joining to fax or send it in. If you wish, contact our office (202-363-4394 or info (at) westonaprice.org ) to let us know that you have a person joining.
For those of you who wish to enroll 5 or more members and receive a copy of Sally’s new hard bound Deluxe Edition of Nourishing Traditions, please e-mail us at info (at) westonaprice.org to convey the names of the folks you enrolled so we can verify that they have become new members. If you are coming to the Conference, you will receive your book at the Conference. If you cannot attend, then we will mail you a copy after the Conference.
The same goes if you enroll 15 or more new members, just le-mail us their names. We will either reimburse you for Conference registration (if you had already paid) or give you a free registration when you sign up.
By the way, if you are a chapter leader, it is fine to participate in
this contest by soliciting memberships at a chapter event or even at a conference or fair where you have taken a booth. You might want to send the memberships you collect that day and send them directly to us, noting your participation for the bonuses.
Please understand that due to our preparations for the Conference, we will be unable to track the new members associated with you – so, we’ll simply rely upon you to do that and then notify us.
HOW DO YOU SHARE YOURSELF?
It’s really very easy. Just create your own testimonial about the
benefits you have received from being a member of the Foundation. That could include anything from a personal healing or the healing of a family member, to the ability to purchase locally grown foods, to new cooking tips, to new friendships. People respond to your honesty, integrity and compassion… and they will respond to your personal story about what you have received from being a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation.
Share what your local chapters are doing and how they can make a contribution to the prospective new member. We now have over 300 local chapters, with at least one chapter in most states. Local chapters focus on connecting members to local farms so that we can purchase the fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and meats we all want thereby supporting local farmers.
Share yourself at your local CSA, food club, farmers market, reading group or any organization with which you are affiliated.
It is also helpful to have some brochures or copies of our flyers or Wise Traditions on hand. However, do not use them as a crutch. People generally do not join something because of a brochure. They join out of a concern they have that can be addressed by the organization or person and a personal experience of the organization or person.
Another important thing to do is ask the person with whom you are speaking to share their concerns about their health and well being. You can then speak about their concerns and how they might be addressed through the principles of the Foundation. Their concerns may range from being overweight to diabetes to learning where to purchase locally grown foods. It could be anything. Just acknowledge their concerns and address them as well as possible.
EXAMPLE OF SHARING YOURSELF
Let me give you an example of enrolling a perfect stranger. Last week I met with a small business banking rep when I wanted to create a new savings account for the Foundation. The woman I met with knew nothing of the Foundation and our work; but, as we talked about the savings account, she also started asking me questions about the Foundation. I spoke about our purpose and our membership. When she said she shopped at a local farmers market, that gave me an opening to talk about our local
chapters and how they support local farmers; about the quality of locally grown foods; and about how I love fresh, just-picked vegetables and fruit. We talked on and on about the merits of fresh foods. When we finished I just asked if she would like to join the Foundation. She said “yes” enthusiastically.
This conversation was very simple and short, not more than 15 minutes. She shared her love of locally grown foods and concern for healthy foods. I shared information about our local chapters, about other possible farmers markets she might want to visit and about some good cooking.
THANK YOU!
On behalf of Sally Fallon and myself, we thank you for your commitment, courage and compassion. It is a joy to work with you all!
If you have any questions or concerns about enrolling or registering new members, please do not hesitate to call us at 202 363-4394 or e-mail me at bsanda (at) westonaprice.org . We will update you periodically with results of our Membership Drive.
