On this last day of 2004, Sally Fallon and I wish you a most empowering and profound of New Year’s.
With the devastation and loss of life that occurred this past week in east Asia, the world has been sent message of the profound need to realize that we are one community of people, not individuals separated by artificial boundaries, race, sex, religion, culture and politics. We are a global family being called to assist our brothers and sisters in their greatest hour of need. Because of the magnitude and scale of destruction, this event has the potential to become a unifying cauldron as millions of people become more aware of the powerful reality of our global oneness that binds humanity together in a common destiny and a common hope for a brighter, more peaceful future for all.
Calls for help and donations have been pouring through many different channels. I have provided below a list of organizations that are seriously involved with rescue and aid services to the 5 million tsunami survivors. If you have not done so already, please consider a monetary donation to one of more of the these worthwhile organizations.
How you can help
A very dear friend of mine, Nancy Rivard, is president of Airline Ambassadors International (AAI), http://www.airlineamb.org/, a non-profit aid organization that escorts children in need, hand-deliver humanitarian aid to orphanages, clinics, and remote communities, assist at special events and involve youth in humanitarian efforts around the world. This week they created “Operation Earthquake/Tsunami,” a collaborative effort among commercial airlines to support relief efforts. AAI’s Medical Director, Dr. Daniel Sussot, is in Sri Lanka now working with Nobel nominee, Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne to coordinate efforts on the ground. AAI has identified 350 pallets of critically needed relief supplies ready for transport, including water purification equipment, hygiene supplies, medical equipment, blankets and food. Right now, only well organized aid, such as what AAI has, is required. What is needed from individuals are monetary donations. Airline Ambassadors has set up a restricted account to receive financial donations for this purpose. For more information about Operation Earthquake/Tsunami, email info (at) airlineamb.org . Nancy is an exceptional person and her organization has aided thousands of people around the world. If you are so inclined, please send checks to:
