The health of our children has reached a dangerous crossroads. Junk food intake among children is out of control. We, as advocates for children, need to wake up to the harsh reality of junk food and it’s affects on our kids.
A parent education program designed to increase awareness of the role that junk food plays in our lives is now available. It consists of information sheets that can be distributed to parents, in schools and organizations. This program is ideal for educators, parents and health advocates who want to encourage parents to support healthier food in their community. The program also works well as a practice builder for health care professionals.
The Junk food Awareness Kit includes four pages of handouts that cover the following topics:
* Sugar
* Fats
* The influence of the media on our kids
* Strategies for implementing healthy change at home.
These handouts can be placed in weekly information packets for schools utilized in mailings or handed out directly to concerned parents and educators.
In addition to the handouts, Dr. Susan Rubin, creator of the program, is available for coaching on how to get your local school administrators and school boards to take action on junk food in the schools.
Due to advances in computer technology, this parent education program is now available for the very reasonable price of $29 via the Internet. To purchase the program, call Dr. Susan Rubin (914) 241-1688 or email her at Abetterwayhhc (at) aol.com.
