Ron Paul’s amendment to block funding for the National Animal
Identification System (NAIS) was defeated on the House floor Tuesday evening by a vote of 34 to 389. To see how your Representative voted, go to http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2006/roll184.xml.
Congress has bought into the idea that NAIS will prevent mad cow disease and bird flu and help our economy. They need to be educated. Morever, the lobbyists for the agri-industry and trade associations are close by with campaign contributions. We have a big hill to climb, but the battle is far from over. The only thing more important to a politician than money is your vote — and they are going to need it very soon.
Working together, we can make our voices heard.
