Nutrition Experts Bring Health & Wellness Conference to S.F. Bay Area
October 26, 2012–Washington, D.C. –Bullying, road rage, shooting incidents are on the rise. So are behavior problems and learning difficulties in children. What if our Standard American Diet of industrial oils and sweeteners is the root cause of these problems?
The Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF), a nutrition education non-profit, is one organization looking for common sense solutions to what ails our society.The Foundation, which promotes traditional foodways, old-fashioned fats like butter and holistic health, brings its popular Wise Traditions conference to Santa Clara, California in November.
The five-day event will be held at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, California beginning, Thursday November 8, through Monday, November 12.
This thirteenth annual event is open to the public and will be of interest to health professionals, food entrepreneurs, farmers and health conscious consumers. The gathering of fifteen hundred people from around the globe is noted for promoting the view that radiant health and traditional farming methods are intimately related.
Conference speakers include Julia Ross, author of The Mood Cure, Natasha Campbell-McBride, author of The Gut and Psychology Syndrome, and WAPF president, Sally Fallon Morell, author of the bestselling cookbook Nourishing Traditions.Fallon Morell is the leading champion of raw milk for human consumption, and works tirelessly to educate the public about the nutritional benefits of farm fresh milk and other nutrient-dense foods, such as grassfed meat and butter, free range pork and pasture-raised chicken and eggs.
“For decades now, our national food policy has discouraged consumption of the very foods necessary for building strong bodies and sound minds. Is it any wonder that we getting a steady diet of misbehavior and mayhem?,” asks Sally Fallon Morell.
Many leading thinkers whose work inspires the local food movement will be present at this important international conference. Sandor Katz, author of The Art of Fermentation, Rachel Kaplan, author of The Urban Homesteader, Chris Kresser, author of The Personal Paleo Code, Jeffrey Smith author of Seeds of Deception, and Bruce Fife, ND author of The Coconut Oil Miracle will be among the many notables speaking at Wise Traditions 2012.
An artisan cheesemaker from Oregon, Gianaclis Caldwell, and four California farmers, Mark McAfee of Organic Pastures Dairy, Chris Kerston of Chaffin Family Orchards, Jennifer House of Coco Ranch andTara Smith of Tara Firma Farms will present during the local farms track. Their emphasis will be on food safety protocols and how food producers can maximize the nutrient content in what they produce and sell.
