Jefferey Jaxen Investigates: A Rush to Green Energy, Part 1
The Highwire
The message we have been hearing for decades is that the climate is changing, and it is our fault. The science is settled, so don’t try to argue. For the umpteenth time, I will point out that it is hard to get more unscientific than to claim “the science is settled.” To me, that just underscores how weak the claim is.
Data from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are considered to be the definitive source of information on the climate. Jaxen points out that the first IPCC assessment showed nothing unusual going on. Climate has varied as long as we have had a climate, and current climate events are nothing new.
The fearmongers would have us believe that dangerous warming is coming. Ocean levels will rise, coastal areas will flood, people will die, dogs will cohabit with cats, your mother-in-law will never, ever leave, and we will experience other unthinkable nightmares, the likes of which the human race has never seen. How, exactly, do they define dangerous global warming? For a long time, they didn’t. Finally, when they couldn’t dodge the question anymore, they came up with a number: “two degrees.” Where did they get that number? No one has been able to connect any science to that number. They pulled it out of a place not even a proctologist wants to go.
Jaxen also asks, why is the only solution for transportation electric cars? Why not hydrogen? How will power be generated for e-cars? Right now, we don’t produce nearly enough power for every American to switch to electric cars. There is not enough power in the world to make them work in extreme cold temperatures.
Lithium for batteries is another issue. It turns out that there is nothing “green” about lithium mining. Environmental impact studies are not done by independent agencies with no conflicts of interest. The real impact is far worse than we are being told.
This is not mentioned in the video, but I find it encouraging and amusing that climate alarmism is starting to fall out of favor, as big governments become obsessed with building data centers that require obscene amounts of power to track every breath you take. They will never get that kind of power from a windmill or solar panel, and they know it. The thumb is UP for this video.
