Florida lawmakers will return to Tallahassee for a Special Session beginning April 28, 2026, and legislation identical to SB 1756, the “Medical Freedom Act,” is expected to be filed again for immediate consideration.
Governor Ron DeSantis specifically added “medical freedom” to the special-session agenda after the bill passed the Senate during regular session but stalled in the House.
This means Florida families have another opportunity to secure stronger parental rights, protections for informed consent, and expanded vaccine exemptions for schoolchildren.
The prior version of SB 1756 would:
- Create a conscience exemption for school vaccine mandates
- Require informed consent materials before childhood vaccination
- Improve access to exemption forms and parental information
- Make Florida’s ban on discrimination based on mRNA vaccination status permanent
- Reinforce medical freedom protections for families
During the regular session, the Senate passed this bill, but the House did not take final action. House members need to hear from constituents now. Calls to Florida House members are especially important this week.
Please act now!

I’m calling to urge Representative ___ / Senator ___ to SUPPORT the Medical Freedom Act during the Special Session.
Florida parents deserve informed consent, meaningful choice, and the right to make medical decisions for their own children.
Please support legislation that expands exemption options, protects parental rights, and strengthens medical freedom in Florida.

TALKING POINTS
- A Florida Medical Freedom Act would add a conscience exemption to school vaccine mandates, expanding protections for families who do not qualify for medical exemptions and do not object solely on religious grounds.
- Informed consent is a foundational ethical principle in medicine and includes the right to accept or refuse a medical intervention without coercion or penalty.
- Parents have the primary responsibility and authority to make medical decisions for their minor children, and state policy should respect that role.
- Expanding transparency and access to exemption processes reduces barriers for families navigating complex medical decisions.
- As of 3/27/2026, there were 2,715,632 adverse events and 50,475 deaths reported to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS). A CDC-funded study found that as few as 1% of vaccine injuries may be reported, suggesting the true number could be significantly higher.
- People differ in genetics, immune function, and health history—factors that can influence how any medical product, including vaccines, affects them, underscoring the importance of personal choice and medical autonomy.
- Vaccine manufacturers are largely shielded from liability for injuries caused by their products under federal law, leaving families with limited recourse if a child or adult is harmed. These liability protections create a system where accountability is minimized, while individuals and families bear the full risk, proving that the so-called ‘safety guarantees’ for vaccines are misleading and incomplete.
- Vaccine formulations include a variety of substances, such as metal salts (e.g., aluminum), preservatives, stabilizers, and residual manufacturing materials. These ingredients—like formaldehyde, polysorbate compounds, and foreign DNA and proteins—are associated with allergic reactions, neurotoxic effects, and immune system dysfunction.
- Mandatory vaccines and other medical policies undermine basic human rights and bodily autonomy. The right to decide what enters one’s body is a fundamental freedom protected in ethical medical practice and international norms. Imposing vaccines by law or policy erodes this core liberty and sets a precedent for further government intrusion into personal decision-making.
